When you combine both classic fantasy and tech-y sci-fi....

So.....

This Camp NanoWriMo.....

I am writing...

REALM-BREAKER!!!!

Its... A classic fantasy combined with

A techy sci-fi.

But.....

Combining these two together takes skill and effort.  "Dara" my MC, jumps from realm to realm, which are different universes linked together by a void that only she can travel through.

Some realms are very primitive.  Some are very fantasy-fairy-mermaid-mystical-esk.  Some are like the real world.  Some look like their world has almost ended.  Some look like Kamino in Star Wars Episode Two The Clone Wars.  And the realm she stays in mostly is very advanced and skilled in technology, etc.  But they can't really do anything because their realm has almost been destroyed and they are trying to save whats left of it.. Or that's what is thought.

When you combine the two.. It can go horribly bad.  It can go good... It can go just... no...

BUT....

If done correctly.. which I hope I can do...

IT SHALL BE GOOD!!!!!

So combining high tech technology and a classic fantasy world with dragons and swords and stuff....,

It can be confusing.

Dara can jump through realms in the void....And some realms are very fantasy-esk

Her home realm has lots of technology.  But all the programs and stuff they can only do to their own realm and realms right next to them.  Needless to say they need Dara to get things done outside of their own Realm.

Now I plan to have her visit a realm that as well was once destroyed but there is a small civilization living there..... And they have very technological weapons (like lazer cannons and stuff)
BUT!  Despite having high tech weapons they live in a realm overgrown with mystical plants, dragons, etc.

So I need tips on combining the two.

My technique as is is this:
Save sci-fi for the home realm
Save fantasy for other realms
Save realistic-esk for another realm.
Worry about the combining when it comes to it.

So that's what I have so far on this.
I've literally written a front and a back page for Realm Breaker. I'm not doing as well as The Code.

Well...... How's your Camp Nano novels starting out?  Are you not doing any?

See ya'll next time!
Byee!!

Waves Against The Rocks

I wrote this story when I was in the 4th grade.  Or maybe the 5th.  Whichever one it is, please pardon how cheesy or weird the story is.  Me right now can't control 4th/5th grade me.  I tweaked it just a bit, so know that this isn't the exact original copy.

Waves Against the Rocks

Queen Piria tucked the blankets around the twin children, each in a separate bassinet.  The girl was born before the boy.  Piria's sister had married, and had these twins.  The couple had been called away to Anglend, and had left the children to her, knowing she would care for them, as she longed for the children she could never have.  She heard a knock on the nursery door.  Piria smoothed her pale green, ruffled gown, and opened the door.  Piria was surprised to see her sisters closest maid standing in the doorway.
"My queen, the priest has sent for you."
That was all she said.  She looked on the verge of tears.  As the pair came upon the priest, Piria asked her,"What makes you on the verge of crying?"
The maid answered, "I will never forget it, and she was pregnant! Her body, on a reef bed.  She won't be queen, and you have only little to live."
"Who died?" asked Piria.  She knew her sister had been with child as she left on the voyage, but it couldn't be...
Just then, the priest let them in, and sat them down.  "Now Mera," he said to the maid,"You may explain the tragedy that has befallen us."
Mera began,"Your highness.  Your sister, her husband are dead.  They found an infant, and it was guessed to be her third child.  She is in here."  Mera showed them the basket with the baby in it.  "Your highness, I am so sorry.  Her last request, according to the survivors, was that her sister name the children."
Piria left the room.  She went straight to the nursery, basket in hand.  She set it down, and then looked over the second baby and said in the ancient language of their kingdom,"Petita Duca, Petita Duca.  Oust name yis Duke." (In english, this means Little Duke, Little Duke.  Your name is Duke)"Ou sal ben thes na duca." (You shall be the next duke.)
She went to the first child, and said,"Petita Fluer, Petita Fluer.  Oust name is Delanie." (Little flower, Little flower, your name is Delanie) "Ous sal ben thes na Qina." (You shall be the next queen.)
Piria finally stopped at the last child, the one born on the trip.  "Petita Petita.  Oust name is Sane Roxa." (Little, Little, Your name is Sane Roxa.) "Foust Sane yis, I greif, Foust Roxa yis, Rosetta." (For Sane is I grief, For Roxa is Rosetta.)
Piria called for a crib to be transferred for Sane.  This was only the beginning...............................................................................

So that was Waves Against the Rocks!  There is more that I have written for the story, and if you would like to see that please tell me!   Anyway, I want to do a quote that represents this story..

"Can it be?  Something so cursed and so dangerous be the reason we are alive?  How can it?  The inner eye shows us visions of the past, but here we are, getting visions from the future."
-ShuffleCat, Waves Against the Rocks

I made that one up on the fly.  Anyway I hope you liked the story!  BYE!!!

Welcome to Trapped in a World of Writing - Evy

Hello! This is Evy and I am very happy to welcome you to this blog! I will be posting every other Saturday. My hobbies include collecting American Girl Dolls, drawing, ballet, and writing. Thus far I have ten stories in progress, four completed, and some ideas sitting around as documents on my laptop. You might say I write a lot.

I have a decent portion of my stories posted on my other blog, Evy's Little Corner. I'm not sure if I will post any portions of those stories on this blog, since I already have them there. I might share Climbing Starlight or some of my other short stories.

For further introduction, Anika, Sabine, and I will be doing the Get To Know You tag. Here is mine, and Anika's will be posted on Monday I think.

Vital Stats -

Name: I go by a lot of names online. (Sparrow, Gemma, Evy, Lanie, Eve) It just depends on the site.

Nickname: I guess Evy and Lanie are nicknames, although I prefer the term pen name for those. Real life, my dad calls me Miss Alanius, or Miss A.

Place of birth: Georgia

Firsts -

Best friend: Does my little sister count? If not, a girl who used to live near me, Zoe.

Award: I think I got some kind of award in Kindergarten, for what I'm not sure.

Sport: Ballet. I'm in my FIFTH YEAR of ballet now. I take classes almost every day of the week now.

Real holiday: Thanksgiving, I think. My birthday is in November.

Concert: My family went to a few concerts hosted by a local college orchestra, if that counts. I think I was seven or eight.

 Favorites -

Film: The Aristocats and Robin Hood (the Disney version). I loved both of those when I was little, and I still do.

TV show: My Little Pony and Once Upon A Time. (Both really great shows. I would recommend them.)

Color: It honestly depends. I have a favorite color in my colored pencil box (a cherry red sort of color), a favorite color for prom dresses (purple), a favorite hair color (black or really vibrant red), and then I like yellow, white, pink, navy, sky blue, and lots of other colors.

Song: Recently I have been obsessed with Bastille and Imagine Dragons and all of their music. I like Silence by Bastille and Shots, Ready Aim Fire, Tiptoe, and some other ones by Imagine Dragons.

Restaurant: I like Moe's nachos and a local restaurant's calzones and pizza.

Books: Lets see...The Hunger Games, The Last Dragon Chronicles series, the Airhead series, the 1-800-Where-R-U series, Maximum Ride, Divergent, Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus, Peter and the Starcatchers, Warriors, Harry Potter, Narnia, The Giver. That's all I can think of at the moment. I wish I could check library history XD. I don't buy books much because I read so fast.

Currently -

Feeling: Happy and relaxed. I'm singing with a Pandora station that I have on.

Single or taken: I am very much taken.

Eating: I'm hungry but eating nothing. I had orange juice a few minutes ago.

Watching: My cat Mint breathe and worrying if she's going to fall off my desk. As soon as I finished that sentence she glared at me. I wonder if she's psychic... Update: She now appears to be reading the screen. This is weird.

Wearing: A blue and white striped shirt and gray skirt.

Future -

Want children: Yes.

Want to be married: Yes.

Careers in mind: Dancer, writer, an artist maybe?

Where you want to live: Somewhere that it isn't hot in the summer or cold in the winter. Except that it snows sometimes. I can't stand any temperature extreme. I'm probably going to have to compromise something because my current dreams are completely impossible.

Do you believe in... -

God: Yes!

Miracles: Yes.

Love at first sight: Yes. That's a little of my relationship story.

Ghosts: Well... I don't know.
